Hey everyone - it's 7:30 and I'm due to depart in roughly 14 hours. Much remains to be done but all the supplies have been gathered and the tent and sleeping bag are wrapped in plastic and zip-corded to the bike.
Instead of packing and printing out my maps and verifying my route for the morning I have decided to do the following: 1) Bake a cake and various squash 2) Create this blog 3) Download a bunch of This American Life podcasts for the inevitable boredom moments.
Things I failed to acquire for the trip: 1) tape recorder 2) a book 3) confidence. Hopefully I'll find substitutes for all three in the next two weeks!
In any case - I've gotten my hands on a digital camera so I hope to upload pictures whenever I get my hands on some Internet and hopefully will transcribe some diary entries written in my tent under the massive amounts of rain I'm expecting.
